Stewie’s pet portrait painting got to head to its home here in Calgary yesterday, which is exciting! I just couldn’t wait to share this pic đ .
In the fall a client contacted me to paint her dear Boston Terrier / Bull Terrier Cross pup who had passed away very suddenly last December when he was only 3 yrs old đ .
“He was a lovely brindle and one of his ears stayed up and the other didn’t as you can see”
He’s so adorable. We went with a 12″x12″ canvas to coordinate with an existing painting she had of her Pug who also passed away in the same year. She showed me that portrait, which had a detailed fabric pattern in the background, so that I could mix a red that best compliments it as they were going to be hanging on the wall together. Now that I think of it, I believe this is my first pet portrait with a red background!! I’m so glad she requested it, I definitely love how it pops! What do you think?
To view the full image it can be found in my Pet Portrait Portfolio. And here are some close up shots:
Oh! And I’m excited to share that Stewie’s painting image is now available in my Greeting Card collection, so if you would like one please get in touch đ .
On a side note:
I found out that Stewie passed away by choking on a raw hide bone, and his mum said that he was gone within 24 hours đ . Which is so terrible & is such scary stuff!! Poor little thing. I of course don’t share this info to be a downer, I share it to help spread the word that raw hide bone chew toys can be very harmful. I’ve personally met a few different people over the years who have lost dogs to them, or pups who had serious medical issues or emergency surgeries because of them. So I strongly recommend to avoid them!!
