Earlier this week, a custom black and white pet portrait of a sweet kitty named Grushenka headed out of my studio. It was given as a gift from boyfriend to girlfriend. (Fun side note: Last fall the rolls were reversed in the sense that this girlfriend gifted a pet portrait to this boyfriend 😀 ! On Instagram I posted a photo of this painting that included my hand in the frame to show the contrast of colour, and I wanted to share it here as well:

I’m really glad it was requested that I do this piece in black and white. The colour version of the photo would have worked equally well of course, however there’s just something about the b&w effect that makes this kitty’s gaze extra striking I think. What are your thoughts?
